The SEAMLESS: Transforming Community Health research project builds on earlier work using pressure mapping equipment to monitor patients in community settings.

The PROMISE (Pressure Reduction through Continuous Monitoring in the Community Setting) project was a quality improvement project, led by Nicci Aylward-Wotton, Tissue Viability Nurse Consultant, which built on existing work to explore the impact of Continuous Pressure Monitoring (CPM) in the community. PROMISE implemented the use of mattress and chair sensors in patients’ homes, which continuously measured and visually identified the areas of the body under sustained pressure. This helped the patient, carer and clinician to better understand the positions and support surfaces that were likely to reduce the risk of pressure ulcers developing or aid healing of existing pressure ulcers.
