PPIE
Patient and Public Involvement in medical research is increasingly acknowledged as essential for achieving meaningful and patient-centred outcomes.
Transforming Community Health has actively involved patients, clinicians, and the public in the research process to ensure the following benefits:
- Relevance: Public and patient involvement ensures that research focuses on addressing real-world issues and patient needs, leading to more applicable and impactful outcomes.
- Improved Study Design: Input from patients and the public helps shape study protocols, ensuring they are feasible, ethical, and aligned with the priorities and experiences of those affected.
- Ethical Considerations: Involving patients and the public promotes ethical decision-making by incorporating diverse perspectives and safeguarding the rights and well-being of research participants.
- Better Recruitment and Retention: Patient involvement aids in the development of recruitment strategies, enhancing participant engagement and retention rates, leading to more representative study populations.
- Enhanced Dissemination and Utilization: Engaging patients and the public in research dissemination facilitates effective communication, broadens reach, and promotes the translation of findings into practice, maximising the impact of research.
Co-production
Co-production is at the centre of the Transforming Community Health project. Working together with patients and public, service providers and industry partners, the project has been designed to ensure that those who will be using the technology have a role in its development, where innovation must fit around the end user.
