“Being involved in PPIE is great. I’ve been doing it for a year and find it truly rewarding! The reason I am involved in Transforming Community Health is because I have a chronic health condition and sometimes sit for a long while, also my mum has skin problems and she might well benefit from this. I feel this type of technology will benefit many of us in future. It’s truly exciting and the team on Transforming Community Health are lovely people, you feel part of it.”

“I am very interested in this project because my cousin developed pressure ulcers, or bed sores, soon after he was diagnosed with Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis 23 years ago. His physiotherapy came to a halt as the ulcers kept opening up and he soon became a wheelchair user, and then bedbound, for the rest of his life. He passed away early this year with sepsis, where the antibiotics failed to have an effect on the infection in his ulcers. This study is vital for the health of our communities. Technology may not have been so useful 20 years ago but now I feel that technologies would really have helped my cousin’s condition.”

“Over the past year I have been participating in PPIE and I have found it very welcoming and interesting to see what research is happening in healthcare and how this could benefit society. I have found research varied and collaborative with PPIE members.”
